However, Im gonna use a personal example of when Aim Assist IS absolutely OP: Apex Legends. For call of duty? absolutely not, low TTK, the aim assist isnt insane really, and movement with a mouse/keyboard is so much more enjoyable. I have a couple friends who switched same time as me and they used to be just as good as I was on console, yet I am more than twice as skillful as they are on PC. But again, there’s many people who just can’t take that extra leap forward when switching. I switched to PC a year ago and I already felt mechanically skilled in any game I play. I myself adapted very quickly, since I was experienced in various competitive games as well as being decent on csgo when I had my old shitty laptop lmao. Even refresh rates arn’t that much of an advantage unless you have the reaction time of a fly. If you really want to involve PC advantages, then you need to relate to refresh rates. Even so, the game doesn't need to be balanced around that small subset of players if it is to the detriment of the majority, so they need to be very careful regarding any tweaks should they choose to make them. I don't personally think it's a problem for the average player as it is, but I've heard that it may be at the top tier level (I.E Pros). which a console can't do, or can't do to nearly the same effect. Whether or not it should be tuned down or not for controllers I can't say as I don't, and haven't, used one, but as a PC player it seems inherently absurd to say I can do things like alter FoV, select a variety of graphical settings, make it easier to notice people by simply sharpening/etc. ![]() I don't want my aim slowing down when I move across someone with my M&K, that would be insanely jarring and not fit in with M&K at all, IMO). But this is massively outweighed by the number of times they die to that PC player who is utilising a skill ceiling afforded by the mouse and keyboard, and which is simply unattainable on console.Īim assist is not needed for M&K (It wouldn't even be a good thing, tbh, since M&K and controller operate so differently. Sure, they might get a kill every now and again against a PC player that they wouldn't have gotten without aim assist. Trust me, as someone who plays an enormous amount of FPS on PC, the notion that controller aim assist gives console players an 'unfair advantage' over me is absolutely hilarious. ![]() However, when you watch a PC player who has mastered the mechanics of mouse and keyboard, their potential to absolutely destroy a console player using a controller in a cross-play environment is enormous. The skill ceiling with a mouse and keyboard is, mechanically, much higher than that of a controller. As is your ability to make huge movements in a nano-second. As is the speed with which you can potentially react. You're ability to be precise with a mouse is infinitely greater than that with a controller. There are things you can do with a mouse and keyboard that you simply cannot do with a controller. Increased frame-rates, wider FOV, but most importantly the mouse and keyboard. Playing on PC offers an enormous array of advantages. I think anyone who actually has experience in playing on both consoles and PC extensively knows that there isn't really a debate to be had in the area. The categorical answer to this question is NO. I have played FPS on both console and PC for around 15 years.
